Boost Your Affiliate Traffic Free With Youtube Videos – With Sean Cannell Affiliate Marketing Tips
Hey guys, its Marcus here and today we have Sean Cannell from YouTube secrets. What we are going to do today is to talk to you about how he grew a YouTube channel from scratch. I really like a lot of his stuff. One of them, in particular, was a milestone with Amazon where he was doing hundreds of thousands of dollars in a year, which we know as an affiliate marketer, takes a lot of traffic.
Sean knows how to drive traffic and YouTube is the platform that he likes to use. He has a book he’s going to share with us, which is called “YouTube Secrets”. The book goes through all kinds of stuff on how to start on YouTube, how to find the right keyword, and even how to monetize, which is great. So, let’s get started with the interview section with Sean.
Marcus: What Was Your Journey Like, When Did You Start?
I got into YouTube during the hardest season of my life. I actually got into video back in 2003 when I was with my local church and that was where I learned video production. The first Youtube channel I managed was back in 2007. I didn’t know anything about titles, thumbnails or even YouTube channels.
Then, in 2010, I started my own YouTube channel, when I was coming out of the hardest season of my life. The recession just happened: my wife and I were losing homes and the properties we invested in. She had a chronic illness that almost took her life. We spent lots of time in the hospital where we had to lose jobs and money. I found myself in a place where I’m like, “I need something that needs to work”. I want to figure out how to create passive income, work on my own term. I want to work from home and be able to be with my wife. I need to figure out this online stuff.”
So, I started with YouTube. Then I start to learn about YouTube, ranking videos (SEO) and affiliate marketing. All I really knew about, that time was Amazon. I started posting videos, and the first video that took off is called, “Gift ideas for him”.
I got this idea when I thought to myself that many people are going to YouTube and it is the second largest search engine in the world. And these people (they got men in their lives) are typing in “gift ideas for him”.
One of the things that I learned is that if you put your content in front of somebody that is in a buying mindset, even if they don’t buy, you are still getting credit for what they are doing. It reminds me of a time when I got $1500 gold coin: I didn’t even know Amazon sold gold coins, I didn’t even recommend gold coin, but the commission was around $187, while I was sleeping.
At first, I didn’t know how to master it, and then I thought, “if I just do this over and over again and I get a lot of content out there, that would be great”. And, eventually I narrow down to my tech channel. Tech is a little bit more expensive and more competitive. And because of ranking videos and building up YouTube channels, I also thought about creating multiple streams.
I was getting YouTube ads and more traffic and it was great. Now we do digital courses and other things.
So, this is just actually one piece of our overall business and it became very lucrative. Now, we are getting about 150,000 clicks on our Amazon links every month.
Marcus: Wow, That’s A Lot Of Traffic. Now, How Many Views Do You Need To Drive To Do That?
The channel drives about 1.2 million views in a month.
Marcus: I’m about 7% click-through rate, which means if I make a video and get about $100,000 views: that would be 7,000 clicks. If I have an opt-in, I’m going to get about half of them to opt in. Knowing those numbers is important because it helps to make decisions.
I remember when I had a font site: in my mind, I thought fonts are free. I’m making $1 per download on the fonts. Then one day, a guy bought $600 worth of fonts (which is like a $200 commission)
Marcus: What Is Your Why ? Were you direct linking (Direct linking is sending people directly from your traffic source to an affiliate link)?
Early on, I use the Amazon wishlist as a way to summarize the whole video of “gift ideas for him”. Now, I use sites like kit.com, which allows you to go international with one Amazon link so I get checks from around the world.
Start With Something You Use And Love
One of the things that I have learned is that one of the ways to do affiliate marketing is by using lifestyle integration. So, I tell stories about how I got the product and how I use and love the product.
Marcus: What Would You Say Are The Tips Of Success For Someone Who Wants To Get Started, Maybe They Want To Be On Camera Or They Don’t?
There Is A Guy On Youtube Who Has Got 150 Million Views And 150,000 Subscribers And Its All Robot Voice. This Guy Is Out There Doing It And Making It Happen. So, Where Would You Say For Someone To Start?
Make A Good Product Review With Products You Actually Try Or Use
You can go broad or do some kind of product review channel. That’s the most direct way to do it. The reason I say that is because you want to think about the intent of the viewer. For example, if someone is typing in, “what is the best vegan protein powder”, they are looking to save the time, money and energy and get the right direction.
To go a lot deeper than that, if you have a particular niche, it can help not just to tactically put videos to make money on affiliate marketing, but to also help you build a brand. For example, if it’s the health and fitness program, you can talk about all kinds of supplements, workout equipment and give advice. People will see you as a go-to source for helping them.
For my tech channel, I do the same. If you want a legacy and want to be known for something, then brand yourself. But still, even if you are not on Camera…you can build a loyal following.
I have actually thought that someone should do a luxury watch review channel because it is so high ticket that even on Amazon, a lot of luxury watches are 3-8 thousand dollars, and there are lots of search for them.
You can just get your hands on them and show them off ( even if you are not on camera). The intent of the audience that is researching those is that they probably want to make a purchase decision based on luxury watches. So, a luxury watch channel could build up an audience of people who love watches.
Marcus Tip: Start Narrow Then Go Broad
I’m a fan of what people started with. I look at it a bit different by teaching people to go into a specific and build on the specific. You can get the book at videohacks.com/book.
The great thing about “YouTube Secrets” is that it starts out with the 7 seeds of YouTube success. It helps you to understand the concepts of competition. You are not going to try to climb Mount Everest or navigate across Europe without a roadmap. That’s the idea of the 7 seeds of YouTube success, it’s a blueprint.
It really helps anybody, whether from beginner or advanced. It helps you master the foundation because that’s what you are going to build on. One of the big mistakes I’ve seen people make is focusing on tons of tactics, learning a lot of different tactics but not having the right strategy. And the strategy is the foundation in which tactics are built upon. Tactics without a strategy can lead to failure.
The second part of the book is on building on the 7 seeds. Things like leveraging Trans and timing. For example, during the Christmas season, I’ve learned that as an affiliate marketer (especially to Amazon), my income, often times, triples without me doing any extra work. Why? Because I have got all the clicks at the right time of the year when people are spending a lot of money. I also noticed that a lot of videos that I put out are very strategic based on black Friday or any holiday.
I think that even if you don’t want to be a YouTuber, you should be paying attention to how YouTube could be the main source of revenue and a way to do affiliate marketing or just a support platform for your overall online marketing plan and strategy.

Same day blogs is where you can go to get a
Complete List Of My Trigger Word Loaded Domain Names
that are based On My Trigger Words and Getting Traffic!!
We are going to talk about the Intent Of A Search Engine User
because everything boils down to the INTENT
What is it that they want?
When I start niche marketing, I start with the Google tool. When you look at Google, basically people come to this page to search for certain things for a reason.
They don’t search for coloring pages if they don’t want to color pages.
They don’t search for downloads if they’re not looking to download things.
They don’t search for mortgages if they’re looking for something else.
They search for what they’re looking for.
THAT IS WHAT THE INTENT IS.
Now if you were to go and take a look at my Trigger Word List…
If you did Marcus Campbell Trigger Words, you would find my Trigger Words.
I believe they are over here on this SITE.
You’re going to find a list of my Trigger Words. These are words that are designed to help you find out the intent of the people searching for whatever it is they’re searching.
Once you get this, it works really. really well because we could go to the Google Adwords Tool
and type in something like “Balance” or “Broken”.
If we were to type in “Broken”, we’re going to see what it is they want.
WHAT THEIR INTENT IS
- Broken Heart Quotes
- Broken Pinky Toe
- Broken Wrist
- Broken Window
- Broken Rib… Foot… Arm…
Let’s try “estimator”
- Tax estimator
- Tax refund estimator
- Home value estimator
- Tax return
- Social security estimator
Here’s one that’s called Gas Estimator!2 cents per click!
If we were to go to Google and we look it up and we put in “gas estimator”
We could see that
There’s No Ads Anywhere
NO ADS!! JUST FREE TRAFFIC!
If there was ads… it would be something like if we were to type in “credit card” You would See Ads! This is a Competitive Market!
Back to gas estimator…
When we look at this word, our goal is to say what is the intention of the market?
THAT IS WHAT OUR TRIGGER WORDS DO
They go through and say…
- What do people want to calculate?
- What do people want to print?
YOU PEOPLE WANT TO SEARCH FOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING
That’s What This Is All About
Its finding out what the market wants and what their intent is!
If you focus on the intent, no longer are you doing the old method of marketing which is like fishing. The old method says let’s just throw our line out and hope that out of all the people there someone bites. This is like branding marketing, putting an ad on tv and things like that. It is very costly and often times there’s a lot of waste!
Because They Don’t Know The Intent!
Fishing is boring because it takes so long to wait for them.
That’s the same thing that marketing is. Marketing can be boring and it could take a long time to actually hook something that works if you use the traditional method but when we use these trigger words, it’s very, very, very, very important to realize that we can find out what people want!
If we were to go to our adwords tool here and type in something like “calories”
What kind of calories do people want to know about?
- Calories burned walking
- Mcdonald’s calories
- Subway calories
- Avocado calories okay
We look at these and we say
THERE’S AN INTENT BEHIND THEM!
Now we say to ourselves, if someone is looking up calories,
the question is What Do They Want Now? They probably want to GET FIT! They probably want to do some kind of FITNESS THING! LOSE WEIGHT!
Look at the difference here….
Now we know the intention of this person – they’re looking for calories burned walking because they’re planning on taking a walk. If we were to offer them something like you know walking schedule or walking plan, we would be able to make a lot of money and then we could teach them how to lose weight and do all kinds of things!
All because we looked at the intent!
If they’re looking at the calories either in food or calories burned while doing something so that they can burn those calories, that’s what they want!
Let’s take a look at another one…
Let’s say we have someone who is looking to calculate
We go to our tool again and we say “calculate”
And again remember that when you use the trigger word tool and the intent, it’s much easier to get conversions because You Know What They Want!
WE’RE FINDING OUT WHAT THEY WANT rather than going after the mainstream
which is going to be very, very, very competitive
- Calculate mortgage payment
- Calculate interest
- Calculate car payment
If we do Calculate Mortgage Payment – Medium Competition
We could probably get it for 30 cents a click
The question again is: WHAT’S THE INTENT?
Are they just entertaining themselves with calculating mortgages? Or Do They Want To Save Money?
The chances are they want to save money and we can help them save money by teaching them about mortgages! Teaching them about refinancing! Teaching about saving money! Negotiating all this interesting stuff that we can help them with!
And we could make money all because we know the intent of the person searching!
We can go to our tool here and type in “printable”
- Print To PDF
There’s intent there! They want to print something on their computer to a PDF. They want to take it from their file, whether it’s word or whatever and get it into a PDF. That way they could distribute it or send it. There’s ways to make money in all of this and when you look at it okay they’re going to tell you that it’s $4 a click!
Rent to PDF is actually not that expensive!
You could tell because not that many people are bidding on the word … Actually, none of them are!
So we look at this and this is a market that we could make tons of money! Really, really easy! Really fun to do! All because we know their intent!
- They want to convert something to a PDF
- They want to print to a PDF
We can offer them toolbars and different things of that nature to make money
Let’s take a look at another one “printable contract” or “sales contract”
Perhaps it’s someone that is looking to sell their house or something like that.
Very easy to make money with because we looked at the intent of the person wanting to print something!
That’s why these trigger words are so important
Not only do they find really killer niches but they also tell you what they want and WHAT TO DO WITH IT!
That’s my whole philosophy with same day blogs and simple sites big profits and blog profit network! ALL THE SITES I HAVE! It is to Go Through And Let Keyword Determine How You Market Online
One last example: “ESTIMATOR”
So we have estimator and we go down here
- Tax refund estimator
- Tax estimator
- Home value
- Social security
- Gas estimator – 2 cents a click!
We Go Here And We Have No Competition!
Let’s take a look at the intent of someone who’s looking up gas estimator – Why would anyone want to estimate how much gas it’s going to take?
What about someone who’s going on a road trip??
All right! This guy’s on a road trip. He’s like “I’m driving across the country. How much gas is it going to take?”
They find out the gas they’re going to take because obviously, they’re probably MONEY CONSCIOUS about it.
What do we do with that?
How do we make money with it?
Let me show you exactly how.
Some of the ways to save money on gas is by getting a gas rewards credit card. Remember, we have a 2 cent per click market. Now what happens is…
GAS REWARDS CREDIT CARD…
…$8 a click
…$20 a click
…$14 a click
…$32 a click
We Could Get Up To A Hundred Dollars Or More For Getting Someone To Apply For A Gas Credit Card
We could go to offer vault…
So we got credit cards and a lot of these pay a lot of money
You can find some good ones if we were to go to Google.
Do a Credit Card Affiliate Program and see what’s available and what they’re paying.
I’ve made a lot of money in this exact market, using this exact kind of thing!
You could go through here and you could say
“We Got All These Rewards Credit Cards And You Could Save Money On Gas!”
You could teach them different ways to find hotels on their way!
All different kinds of things based on their intent of estimating the gas price! This is the most important thing – understanding the intent your visitor has! If You Understand The Intent, You Will Make Money
Whether it’s something simple like printing, calculating, calories, or whatever it is! Find the Intent that User has! Whatever their dream goal is…
The important thing is to realize that people dream and they think of things and they visualize things in their mind! When someone’s looking up the “calorie” thing they’re looking at it and saying “okay, i see myself as someone who’s fit” when they’re looking up “blog for profit” they’re seeing themselves as someone who’s making money online and they visualize this!
If you’re starting to get it, which I hope you are, The simple little video should help you understand that intent is everything!

10 Websites For Making Money Online + Best CPA Affiliate Networks — affiliatemarketingmc at YouTube.com
Today, I want to go down the list of the top 10 websites you need to know about if you want to make money with affiliate marketing. This is a list that I’ve used over the last 19 years as an affiliate marketer to make close to eight figures.
You’ll want to know about these links and check them out. I put a list of the links over at www.AffiliateDude.com/links so you could print them out, put them on your desk, visit them often so you don’t forget. Let’s go ahead and dive right in.
This one is kind of obvious. This is the AdSense platform. If you didn’t know, Google AdSense, which is the reverse of Google AdWords, actually has a program where you could put a little code on your site, and it’ll generate ads on your site. It makes the ads relevant to whatever is on your site, and when people click, you get paid.
You don’t have to sell anything. You don’t have to go out there and get people to do stuff. All they got to do is click the ad, and boom, you get paid. Really cool. AdSense is a great way to supplement any affiliate marketing website.
This is another obvious one. You may have heard of ClickBank. Now, ClickBank is an online retailer for digital products. I started out with ClickBank back in 1999. They started out giving a platform for people who created digital products, eBooks, softwares, and things like that.
And what they did is they attached it to an affiliate program. So if you have a ClickBank account as an affiliate, you can promote hundreds of thousands of products on the ClickBank platform. All you have to do is get people to go to the link, they buy, and you get paid. There are tons of things to choose from. From goldfish care guides to how to lose weight, to how to make money, to software that will find and replace little codes in your text, and stuff like that. So they have all kinds of stuff.
You might have heard me mention this one. OfferVault is not an affiliate network. What they are is an affiliate offer search engine. So you can actually go to OfferVault right now, and you can type in whatever niche you’re looking up. Perhaps you’re in the bodybuilding niche, or perhaps you have a bunch of traffic with people who want maps. If you want it, they got it.
You type it in, and you find the offer. It’s going to tell you the network that has the offer, the amount you’re paid, and what it takes to get paid. Sometimes you can get paid per lead, per sale, per download, per click, per trial, and more. There are lots of ways to get paid as a CPA affiliate marketer, and OfferVault is a great place to go find those offers.
4. Commission Junction
This one is little-known and isn’t talked about a whole lot in our industry. I’ve made a lot of money with Commission Junction over the past few years, sometimes as much as $600 in sales of fonts. That’s right—someone actually bought $600 worth of fonts from my website in one day. I usually averaged about $100, or $50 a day, but that was a special day. I got $200 in commission just from that.
They have stuff from fonts to ink cartridges, to legal leads, to Zappos shoes, to web hosting. You get seven percent for your sales. Commission Junction is great for a one-size-fits-all affiliate network. They have everything. It can be a little tough, because you have to get approved for each offer. But once you get in there and get the hang of it, it’s pretty easy.
5. LinkShare / Rakuten
This is kind of like Commission Junction, but it’s a little bit different and a little bit smaller. It’s an affiliate network that has all kinds of stuff. I’ve used it to promote things like software, or different downloads, or even Christmas trees.
That’s right, I actually had a site that sold Christmas trees online. They weren’t real ones, they were the fake kind of Christmas trees (which was good, because they’re more expensive, so I made more money), and I was able to do this with the Link Share program. You want to find the place that has the offer you need, and this is a great place to look for that.
6. Amazon Affiliate Program
This is an important one. A lot of people talk about the Amazon Affiliate program as if it’s the be-all, end-all Holy Grail. There are a couple things I will say about the Amazon Affiliate program. The first is that the barrier of entry is low—everyone knows about Amazon. If you need to buy something, you click a button. You don’t even have to get your credit card out.
The second is that whatever people add to their cart at the moment you get the click, you get paid on all of it. So if you’re selling something like a pen, and you’re only going to make a little bit of commission, and the customer decides they want to buy a background, or a camera, or a $20,000 printer along with it, you’re going to get commission on all of it.
You can also add “big box stores” on this part of the list. Because you can compare which of these big box stores will pay you the most. These guys will fight for your business.
This is one of my personal favorites. MaxBounty is an affiliate network that has downloads, zip submits, email submits, leads, to anything else. You name it—they have all kinds of offers.
They use CPA marketing, which means “cost per action”. So instead of going out there and having to get everyone to buy stuff, you can just get them to click, download, fill out a form, call a number, or whatever it may be, and you get paid. You don’t have to go through the hassle of selling stuff.
8. GlobalWide Media
This one is a lot like MaxBounty, but more advanced. GlobalWide Media has a lot more download offers, and a lot more exclusive offers for you with better payouts. But they’re a little more exclusive What I suggest you do is start with MaxBounty, get some numbers under your belt, then go to GlobalWide and sign up. If you have the traffic and the chops to back it up, it’s pretty easy.
I’ve made seven figures with GlobalWide, from back when they were called Never Blue. A bunch of Canadian guys started this company, and I think I was their 12th affiliate.
I promoted a lot of download offers, and our best year with them was over $1,000,000, which was really cool. They since went on to sell that company for some obscene amount of money. But the company is still great, and it runs well. It’ has great offers, and you should definitely add this to your affiliate link rolodex.
This is one that people don’t talk about as much, but I’ve made hundreds of thousands of dollars with this type of stuff. At credit.com, you can sign up and get links for different credit cards. Credit.com has lots of different credit cards, from travel to flight, you name it.
I made a little website about gas prices. I had a little zip code submit offer where people could get some gas rewards (that was through GlobalWide), and I also had a link from Credit.com for a gas rewards credit card. It paid me around $100 a sale, or lead, or something like that. And all people had to do was apply for the card, which they wanted to because it would help them save money on gas. I made lots of money with that.
Last but not least, we have ShareASale. This is a lot like LinkShare and Commission Junction. It’s kind of a smorgasbord of everything, where a merchant can go sign up and become a vendor, and you can be the affiliate, and promote them, and get paid.
ShareASale has some really unique offers. For example, there’s an offer for one to eight hundred flowers, where you could get paid to get people to send flowers for Valentine’s Day. (If you needed a keyword for that, go after “love poems”.)
The key to making this whole thing work is understanding how to find niches. You have to be creative.
