How to Use Kartra with WordPress
How to Use Kartra With WordPress + Bonus and Tutorial — affiliatemarketingmc at YouTube.com.
Kartra is a really cool software that puts you in charge of everything. Today we’ll talk about how to integrate your WordPress blog with the Kartra software.
What Does Kartra Do?
It allows you to:
- Build a mailing list
- Follow up with your mailing list
- See stats and analytics (that no other software has)
- Find out who’s responding and who’s not responding
- Put people in different groups and categories
- Sell stuff
- Set up membership sites
- Have videos
- And more!
Kartra not only is a shopping cart with click funnels and everything, but it actually has the HTML embed codes so you can put everything directly on your site, exactly how you want it.
Now for me, as a WordPress site owner, this is a dream come true, because now I can control everything. I’ve been doing this since about 2009 with WordPress, and I’ve been doing affiliate marketing since about 1999, and this is the biggest thing I’ve ever seen.
Before now, I’ve had to do all this stuff by hand, which means since 2009 I’ve had to code everything myself, or have a programmer, get different codes from different autoresponders, have codes from different shopping carts, have buttons on different servers, etc. It’s been a mess. And what Kartra allows me to do is have everything in one spot, paste it into my WordPress, and I’m ready to go.
You can have different forms on different pages, as shown below:


You can even have forms right inside your posts.

How Do I Use It?
Now, let’s take a closer look to see how this happens.
Different Forms on Different Pages
What if you want to have different forms on different pages?
You can see here I have my Kartra opt-in form right here on the main page.

But if we go over to the hub site page, you’ll notice there is no opt-in form here.

So let’s say that I want to add a different opt-in form here. I would go to Kartra, go to the My Forms page, click on the form that I want, and I can go get the code.

I want to use this fancy little website one here. I click “Get code – JavaScript” and copy the code.

Then I go into my website and find the Squeeze Blogs Pro plugin. I add a new widget inside the plugin.

If I like, I can put some teaser text inside the Contents section to get visitors to opt-in, or I can leave it blank if I just want to use what’s on the form.

Under Contents, it asks me if I’m using Aweber. I select “No” and paste the code into the text box.

Then I can choose the page where I want the form to be displayed. I do that by finding the Pages section and entering the page I want to use.

I scroll down and hit the “Update” button.

Now I have an opt-in right there, and it’s a separate one from what’s on my main page.


Order Forms
Maybe instead of an opt-in form, you want to allow someone to order something directly on your site. So on Kartra, go to the My Products page, and select the product that you want visitors to order.
Let’s say you want people to order the Squeeze Blogs Pro plugin. This will give you the code to display the order form on your page.



Then you copy the code and paste it into your own Squeeze Blogs Pro plugin on your website.
If you don’t want to embed it into a post, you can display it as a widget on the side of the page. Go to the Sales icon on your Squeeze Blogs Pro plugin.

In the Pages section, select the page where you want the form to be displayed. Then paste the code in the Contents section and hit “Update”.

Now you have an order button, and people can order the product right on your blog.

Order Form Button Pop-Up
Instead of displaying the order form itself, you might want to just have a button that leads to a pop-up order form.
Back on Kartra, go again to the My Products page, and select the product that you want visitors to order. We’ll still use the Squeeze Blogs Pro example.

Now hover your cursor over “Edit”. Click on “Edit product”.

A pop-up will display confirming that you selected this product. Click “Next”.

On the next page, you will move through the Basic Info, Pricing, and Contents sections. Keep verifying the information and clicking on “Save and next” until you arrive at the Checkout section.



Then you’ll arrive at the Checkout section. Under “Your checkout page look & feel”, click the “Change” button next to it.

You can choose how you want the form to show up. Select “Overlay pop up window on your site”. Select “Confirm” on the top right corner of the box, and select “Save and next” at the bottom of the page.

Keep verifying the rest of the information, clicking on “Save and next” at the bottom until you get to the end.



Now the product has been reconfigured to display as a pop-up window. You just need to get the new code to paste onto your site.
Go to the My Products page and select the product you want to display (The Squeeze Blogs Pro plugin).

Click on “Checkout”.

Copy the new checkout code for the pop-up button.

Paste the code into your Squeeze Blogs Pro plugin, just as you did before.
In your Squeeze Blogs Pro plugin, you can decide which pages or which posts you’d like the button to be displayed on.

Here you can see the new button on the sidebar of one of my site pages.

When someone clicks on the button, a secure window pops up for the customer to purchase the product.

Today we’re going to talk about the hottest most profitable affiliate niches that you can get into in 2018. These are niches that have tons of money attached to them. There are lots of people in these niches making lots of money right now. Let’s dive right in and talk about the hottest niches of 2018.
Web Hosting


The first top-most profitable niche is web hosting. This is a big niche that pays a lot of money. Companies will pay anywhere from a couple of bucks up to $300 or more when someone gets a dedicated server or shared web hosting account. This niche is really good, because people are building sites like crazy, and they don’t know how to do it. You can show them how to build sites, tell them to get web hosting, and you get paid.
I make about $50,000 a year just off of web hosting commissions alone, off of one little site
that I built on a webinar back in 2015. So, it’s pretty lucrative–I’m close to over $100,000 on that site, just off of one web hosting affiliate offer. So, it’s a really good niche.
Online Training Courses

The second most profitable niche of 2018 is online training courses. These are great because they cost very little for the person who develops them, and they make a lot of money. There are courses for literally everything—how to manage depression, or how to take care of your dog, or how to learn to fish, or whatever it may be. There are lots of sources out there (such as www.Lynda.com) that have training videos and courses, and you can be their affiliates and make lots of money when you sell their courses. Some courses sell for upwards of $100,000—imagine getting a commission on a $100,000 training course! It’s estimated that this is going to be a $100 billion-a-year-industry.
Finance

The finance industry is great, because there’s always money in it. Every day, people are getting
mortgages, buying houses, refinancing their homes, getting credit card loans, buying new cars, refinancing cars, dealing with budgets, dealing with spreadsheets, or just trying to manage their money. All you have to do is find one segment of the market, get really good at it, help people with it, and you’re off to the races. You can get anywhere from $40 to $100 per lead. You don’t even have to sell anything—you can get someone to fill out a form and get $100.
I have had sights in the gas prices niche where I sold credit cards, because people wanted to save money on gas, and the gas rewards credit cards made them able to do that. And I got paid like $100 every time they applied for a credit card.
Fiverr

Next, we have Fiverr. This is a really good one, because people want things done. They might want someone to make a logo, an article, a voiceover, a video, an image, backlinks, someone to do this or that. People always want someone to do something for them. Fiverr has an affiliate program which, last I heard, pays $100 when someone signs up for the site and bids on a job. This is also attached to outsourcing and things like that, which also has a lot of stuff involved in it, stuff that you can get into and make money really fast.
Software-As-A-Service



Here, companies spend millions of dollars to build the perfect software platform. These are software-as-a-service, which means they are monthly recurring services for customers. So, the cool thing about being affiliates for these companies is that you get commissions monthly. This is a great way to start building recurring income. And here’s a secret: you don’t want to go market these services under their product names; you want to go and find people who want the product, but don’t know they need it yet.
For example, I want to find people who want to put a mailing list on their blog. They want to put a little form that gets them into their mailing lists on their blog. I take them and I say, “Here’s how to do that. By the way, you’re going to need Aweber to be able to do that. Click here to sign up. I’m an affiliate, I get paid, which is why I’m going to help you out.” And if I send someone over to Aweber and they sign up, I get 30% commission for life.
I’ve built a recurring income of about $4,000-$5,000 a month within just a few days promoting one of these services. And that’s goingto go on as long as these people are customers. If I get more customers, that number builds and grows. I’m still getting paid every single month from people that bought back in 2010, back when I just started doing the monthly recurring stuff. And I still get paid over and over.
Now What?
So there you have them. These are the top affiliate niches of 2018. They’re really hot niches where you can make a lot of money, and people are banking it huge, building up a recurring revenue with these streams of affiliate offers. But the key is pairing the right traffic method with the right affiliate offer. So how do you find the right affiliate offer for you?

Today we’re talking about how to make a living with YouTube and affiliate marketing. Does it work? What are people doing right? We’ll show you how to turn your YouTube channel into a full-on business, so that you can get paid doing what you love to do—making videos.
Affiliate Marketing
First of all, what is affiliate marketing? Affiliate marketing is where a company has products and services to sell. They use affiliates to help them sell those products. They generate a custom link for each affiliate, and when the affiliates send people to that link, they get paid. As an affiliate marketer, that’s exactly what I’ve been doing for the last 18 years from the comfort of my own home.

YouTube and Affiliate Marketing
When it comes to YouTube and affiliate marketing, things are a little bit different. They’re not as linear as search-based marketing. Most YouTubers don’t know what they’re doing when it comes to affiliate links. They’ll create a video, and in the video they’ll say something like “link in description”. Then down in the description they’ll have a bunch of words, and then they’ll have their raw affiliate link displayed.
If you’re a YouTuber, you don’t want to do it that way. There are two main reasons you don’t want to have raw affiliate links on your YouTube channel. First of all, you’re not building a brand. If viewers go to the link and they don’t buy, then they’re kind of lost in cyberspace. Maybe they’ll watch another video again. Maybe not. But either way, they’re lost.
Second, most raw affiliate links don’t have a disclaimer. If you are doing an affiliate marketing, you need to have a disclaimer. If a viewer is watching your video, they might think you’re just a kind person that wants to help out. They might not know that you get paid for sending people to your link and when they buy. If you don’t have a proper disclaimer, you can get into legal trouble.
Monetize with YouTube
If you’re a YouTuber, you might have an audience, and you might have views on YouTube, but you might not know how to monetize them. Or worse, maybe you’ve been demonetized. Well, there’s actually a better way than just relying on views.

Understand Your Audience
In my years of affiliate marketing, I’ve found that you can make more money by understanding your audience. You have to realize that every single view on YouTube is an actual person. Then, think outside the box and think about what your audience ultimately wants. Each person that interacts with your videos does so with a purpose, whether it’s for entertainment, education, etc. You have to get the intent out of them and understand what it is they want to do. Then you can drive them to the things that help them.

Own Your Own Website
The key here isn’t just to brand your audience, but to brand yourself as well. If you’re going to do YouTube and affiliate marketing, you need to have your own site. It’ll take about 15 minutes to set up, costs about $6 a month, and you can have as many different sites on that hosting account as you want. Then you can do lots of affiliate marketing with YouTube and other stuff as well. Instead of giving people your long, ugly raw affiliate links, you can send people over to your website, where you’ll have your affiliate links.
Get Visitors On a Mailing List
When you send people over to your site, you can also have them put their name and email in an opt-in box. This is very important, because it builds you a mailing list. This is your audience—you did all the work to build it up on YouTube, so you might as well make the most of it.
Once you get them onto a mailing list, you can contact them and understand them and get to know them better. And you can send them different offers all the time. You might do this through standard affiliate programs, such as ClickBank or Amazon. Or, you might give them offers some other way.

CPA Marketing
CPA marketing is an alternative to affiliate marketing. This stands for cost-per-action or cost- per-acquisition. Instead of having to generate a sale, you can get paid on downloads, forms, clicks, phone calls, free trials, leads, and things like that. This is a lot more lucrative because it’s a lot easier of a barrier of entry. When you send your visitors these offers, they’re going to convert way higher than pay-per-sale offers.
Final Thoughts
So remember: When you’re doing affiliate marketing on YouTube, you want to say no to direct affiliate links, and say yes to creating your own site. You want to say no to shady tactics and yes to having disclaimers so that you are covered. You want to say yes to owning your site, building a list, and CPA marketing.

Today we’re talking about ClickBank. I want you to understand exactly how Clickbank works, and if you’re a beginner, how to get started with it. What are the pros and cons of using Clickbank as an affiliate marketer? How could you get started making money pretty much right now?
Clickbank started about 18 years go, back when I started internet marketing, and it’s basically a digital product sales mechanism. There are two different sides to using Clickbank, one as a vendor and the other as an affiliate.

Clickbank Vendors
Clickbank has tens of thousands of product vendors. They mostly work with digital products. These may be software products, services, e-books, or something like that. They also get into some physical products as well, but mostly it’s digital.
If you have a product or service, or something you want to sell, you sign up to be a Clickbank vendor. I order to have your product on Clickbank, you have to pay a $50 product review fee. They review your product and make sure it’s good, that you’re not doing anything shady.
Once it’s approved, you set the price of your product. Then Clickbank gives you a link where people can purchase the product. When they do, they put their credit card information in, and you get a cut of the sale—which is the product price, minus $1, minus about 7% for processing fees. It’s much more expensive than a regular merchant account, but it’s very easy. You can sign up and be in business literally in minutes.
Clickbank Affiliates
The other side of the coin is the affiliate side. Product vendors can choose to pay affiliates to promote their products, and they decide how much commission affiliates can make, anywhere from 1 – 75%. As an affiliate, you can sign up with Clickbank for free. You’re not charged any fees, but because the vendor is charged 7%, that gets taken from your cut when you make a sale.
When you sign up for an affiliate account, you get your username. Then, you can go and find a product. You do this by going to the Clickbank product marketplace. There you’ll find tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands, of products, and you can choose which ones to promote. You’ll see some information that goes along with each product:
Product name: This is exactly what it sounds like.
Average per sale: This is the average amount you can expect to make when you sell the product.
Gravity: This is how many affiliates have made a sale in the last month. So if there is like 900 gravity, that means 900 different affiliates have made at least one sale. That means it’s pretty popular (but also competitive).
Promote: When you click that button, it’s going to generate a long Clickbank link. This is your affiliate link. Whenever you send someone to the page through this link, and they purchase the product, you get paid.
Rebill amount: If it’s a monthly subscription, this is how much you’ll get paid monthly.

You can have links for as many different affiliate products as you want. Then you can go into Clickbank and see which offers made you how much money that day. You can see exactly what’s going on at a glance.

The Good and Bad Sides of Clickbank
Most people here are looking to get into Clickbank as an affiliate, so let’s talk about some of the good and bad with Clickbank affiliate marketing. The upside to Clickbank is that it’s easy. You sign up at Clickbank, you get an account, and you can start making money right away (if you can get traffic). Your account is live, and your links are live. You have one account, and there are thousands of products available.
Clickbank also has some downsides. One downside is that you have make a sale in order to get paid. This is different from CPA (cost-per-action) marketing, where that’s not always the case. With CPA marketing, sometimes you can get paid just when people fill out forms, or download things, or call a phone number, or try a product for a dollar. But with Clickbank, you only get paid when you make a sale.
Another downside is that a lot of the products on Clickbank are made by people just trying things out, so they might not be professionally done landing pages that get conversions. As affiliate marketers, we want to promote the things that convert. We want things that are going to give us what we call the biggest EPC, or earnings-per-click.
Tips for Using Clickbank
You want to find products and services that are based on what your market wants. So if you’re in the market for parenting, you could go for “kids riding a bike,” “parenting tips”, “parenting skills”, anything related to parenting. You could go to the Clickbank marketplace and find things to promote.
Let’s face it. When you promote a sales-type thing, the average conversion rate is 1% or lower. That means if you send 100 people to your site, 99 are going to leave without you making any money. So, if 99 people leave out of every 100, and you don’t get paid, that means 99% of your marketing efforts are a total and complete waste of time, money, and energy. And quite frankly, that sucks.
But there’s a way we can combat this. When I use Clickbank, I don’t just want to go put the link out somewhere random. I like to set up a blog or website about the topic. When I get people to my site, I want to capture the names and emails of people who come looking for the product. So I offer something that’s going to help them, in exchange for their information. Now, instead of a 1% conversion rate, I’m probably going to get something like 30% to 60% to put their name and email in the box. I use that to build a mailing list. Right after they put their name and email, I can shoot them to the Clickbank offer if that’s what I want to do. Personally, I like to have a little thank-you page with other offers, and that does really well.
Now I’m not wasting traffic. I can follow up, and market to my list over and over, and I can make a lot more sales. It’s extremely easy to do. When you’re dealing with internet marketing, 1% more can mean all the difference in the world.
So when you’re doing Clickbank marketing, 1) make sure your offer fits your traffic method, and 2) make sure you’re driving them to a website where you at least have other affiliate offers, or at best create a mailing list. And then when you send them over, you’re going to get a check from Clickbank, and you can go in and track everything. So, is Clickbank the be-all-end-all? Maybe, maybe not. But is it good? Yes. Is it something you should have in your affiliate marketing playbook? Absolutely.

Today we’ll be going through five things you need to do that most affiliate marketers get wrong. This affects your income, and it can even sometimes have legal consequences. So, you want to pay close attention to this. I’m not a lawyer, but this is how I understand it, and this is what I do in my business. If you have questions about any of the legal aspects, definitely seek out legal advice.

- Poor Link Structure
Link structure is very important. A lot of people go out on Facebook or Instagram, or even on their blogs or in their emails, and they send what we call a raw affiliate link. This is the link that a company gives you directly to market products and services. This is a big ugly link, and it’s really confusing. If you’re using an affiliate network, then it’s even worse.
These links are not intended to send people to as type-in traffic—that means they’re not links you would expect someone to type in as a URL on their browser. You don’t want to tell people to use those links. You want to tell people to go to something very, very easy. Because if you get the link wrong, or someone types in the link wrong that you’re telling them to use, you’re not going to get paid.
So, get your link structure right. What I advise everyone to do is set up their own link structure website. This can be an easy website, and it allows you to track on your end as well. Link structure is one of the most important things to keep in mind with affiliate marketing. Make sure your links are very, very concise, and very easy to use. Make sure they are all hosted on your own domain name.
- Not Building a List
You’ll see a lot of people on YouTube, and people with websites, and people everywhere trying to do affiliate marketing. They’ll say, “Check out this video, and here’s a list of the things that I used in the video.” This will be lists of their cameras and microphones and stuff like that. But, their link structure will be off, and they’ll send out raw (or even cloaked) affiliate links.
Instead, you want to say, “Go to my site to get my gear guide.” Then, people will go to your site, put in their name and email, and then they will get your list of things. That way, you can write back to them and say, “Hey, did you get the gear? Check it out – I found something new.” And when you build your list, you’ll have the ability to market to people over and over and make lots of money.
- Quick Buck Mentality
The third thing I see affiliate marketers do wrong is that they have the “quick buck mentality”. They look for the quick buck at the expense of their bottom line. And because of this, they’re just setting things up, putting things out there, and they’re making a little bit of money but not doing the long-term game.
You’ll see people out there doing launch jacking and doing affiliate promos where they rank for a product. And it’ll work and they’ll get some sales, but they’re not building a mailing list or getting their old content picked up by the search engines. This is extremely important.
Even if you’re doing launch jacking, or even if you’re doing simple video promotions, put those on your site. Go for the keywords, and double up your content. This is what we call repurposing content. This is where you repurpose content and you’re able to use it for different purposes. In this case, ranking, which is really cool and really important. You’ll get lots of traffic and hopefully make lots of money.
- Not Building on Content
The fourth one is a lot like the third one. Affiliate marketers don’t build on their content. You can take old content and you can use it to promote affiliate products. You can use it for product launches. You can use it for sending out things to your mailing list.
You want to find out what people are interested in. You want to build on the content in a way that makes sense and helps the visitor. Focus on giving good value based on what people are searching for.
- No Affiliate Marketing Disclaimers
There are people that promote different affiliate offers, and they don’t disclose that they are an affiliate. Not having this disclaimer can get you in a lot of hot water. (Again, I’m not a lawyer, so don’t listen to me for legal advice, but this is how I understand it. If you have any questions, seek legal counsel before you set this up.)
If you’re being paid to send people to something, and you’re compensated for reviewing products, you can’t act like you are just a normal person out there reviewing things. You have to go out and say you are getting paid to promote these products. Whether it’s Facebook Instagram, etc., if you’re getting paid, you need to disclose that to your visitors.
Even on YouTube, if you’re selling stuff and you say, “Check out my gear guide,” you need to tell your viewers that you’ll be paid if they buy something from this gear guide because you’re an affiliate.
One of the ways I do this is to tell people I’m an affiliate, and then offer bonuses to help people out when they buy through my links. And in my case, I give videos on how to actually use the gear. You can keep something like that in mind when promoting products you use yourself.

Today we’re going to map out all the tools that you would need to start an internet business. When you’re starting out, you don’t need to have all these tools up front. You want to get in the habit of getting tools as needed. (For example, when you decide to build a mailing list, then you get an autoresponder. When you decide to sell something, then you get your shopping cart.)
Depending on where you’re at in your business, you might be ready to get all these things. Or, you might be just starting, and we’re going to show you how to do it. I’m going to put a list of all the tools we talk about over at www.AffiliateDude.com/tools, so you can go there and get all the tools and links.
- A Domain Name

First of all, if you’re starting an internet business, you’ve got to have a domain name. This is kind of like your business storefront. It’s where you’re going to put your business. I tell people to start with a hub site so they have somewhere to put everything. I prefer to have a .com name, but sometimes those are taken. So if you have to get a different one, that’s okay too. I like to also stick to .net or .org.
If you go through the web hosting process that we teach you (you’ll learn more about that in a moment), they give you a free domain name. But if you don’t use that, a domain name usually costs between $8 and $15, or something like that.
- Web Hosting

Next, you need to get yourself web hosting. We have our recommendations over at www.AffiliateDude.com/tools. Web hosting is where you store everything. Your host will give you two different addresses of where your stuff will go, and then you’ll have a folder on the web with all your files, and you can install different things like content management software, or you could simply use it to host static files. It’s just like a folder on your computer, only it’s on the web and everyone can see it.
Now your domain has something to link your stuff to. Web hosting is usually around $6 a month until you get into really big stuff. If you have serve massive video files or something like that, you might want something more robust. But for 99% of internet marketing people, it will be about $6 a month.
- A Content Management System

The next thing you choose is what we call our content management system. This is where you decide if you want your site to be a blog (which I highly recommend), or a static site, or a membership site, etc. I tell most people to start with a blog, specifically with WordPress. WordPress is an open source software that goes on your server. That might sound complicated, but it’s pretty simple. The web host gives you the software, and they give you one button to push that installs it on your site. It can take literally less than five minutes to get your domain name and set this up.
WordPress is free, and they come with all kinds of tools and plugins. A lot of those are free too, and some of them cost money—it just depends on what you want to do. Now you can start posting and running affiliate offers, and you can start making money. You can make a little blog, maybe about traveling, or video cameras, or mortgages, and you can put some affiliate offers on there.
- A Mailing List

A lot of people say that the money is in the list. A mailing list is a way to collect names and emails of people who visit your site, so you can market to them over and over and make lots of money. Personally, I’ve made millions of dollars with my mailing lists, and I make money with them every single day.
You have to have what we call an autoresponder. They give you a little code, and you can plug this into your blog. That allows you to have an opt-in page, where people can enter their names and emails, and you can get those emails onto your mailing list. Autoresponders are usually about $17 a month. Some of the fancier ones cost more. We have a list of our top-rated autoresponders over at www.AffiliateDude.com/tools. These are very easy to integrate with your content management system (like WordPress).
- A Payment Option

So now you have your mailing list, and you’re sending out emails to your people. You have your blog, and people are coming in. Let’s say you decide that you want to sell your own product. Maybe you have your own book, or coaching program, or you want to sell something on your own.
Next, you want to add some sort of payment option. These are what we call merchant accounts. They allow you to take money via credit card, or whatever it may be. The person buys something, and the money goes right into your account. There are popular options like PayPal and Stripe that are free to sign up, but they take around 3% of whatever your sales are. So if you make $1,000 in a month, they’re only going to take around $30 or something. You only have to pay if you make any money, which is cool.
- A Shopping Cart

Now that you have a merchant account, you need to get the account up on your website with an order form so that people can pay you. This could be in the form of a shopping cart. There are all different kinds of shopping cart softwares and customer management solutions that integrate with lots of different merchant accounts, and they are pretty easy to set up.
Most merchant accounts will give you a link to your order form, and then you’ll just put that link somewhere on your blog, or you can put it in the emails on your autoresponder. There are some downsides to having that link on your site: 1) it’s hosted on a different site, 2) it’s not very customizable and sometimes really ugly, and 3) you can’t really automate things very efficiently.
Review
You have your content management system, and you have an ad, or you tell someone to go to your domain. That brings them to your website. Your website has all of the WordPress blog stuff. People like what they see, and they put their name and email in the box. They go into your database, and it’s all stored on your autoresponder. This means you can now email them whenever you want (within reason, obviously). Then you have your merchant account, which is linked to your credit management software / customer management software. Then you have the order form that you put on your blog.
You make a new blog post for people, and you say, “Hey, check this out. I have this new blog post for you.” On the bottom of the blog post it says, “Here’s a link: push the big button.” The button is going to take them to that order form. They order something, and you get the money in your account, usually in 1-3 business days.

Today we’re talking about why people aren’t making sales on their websites. A lot of people come to me and say, “Marcus, why is my stuff not selling? I have a website, I have traffic, I have affiliate offers, but I’m not making any money.” We’ll be talking about the reasons that you’re not making sales. These will change the way that you do marketing online.
- Traffic is Not Targeted

The first reason people do not get sales online is because their traffic is not targeting the right people or the right group. You have to get in front of your ideal customer.
A lot of people think that web marketing is all about numbers. They think, “If I could just show my product to millions of people, someone’s going to buy now.” Well, that might be true. But the chances of showing your product to millions of people is probably pretty slim. So, for the average person out there, you need a very, very targeted audience. You need to find out exactly who’s going to benefit most from our product.
If you’re in the software industry (let’s say you’re selling things to help people get more sales), you can target people looking at “how to improve webinar conversion”, or people searching “how to make new buttons for their website”, or people looking for “how to click PayPal”, and things like that.
If you have something for people that are looking for self-development, you want to go for people that are searching “depression”, or people that are looking for “how do I get out of a slump”, or “why am I not productive”, or “why don’t I feel happy”. Those kinds of things are very good.
So, putting yourself in front of the right customer and the right visitor is the most important thing. If you are going out there and you say, “Well, Marcus, I just want people looking up software or people looking up personal development,” the problem is they’re not a really targeted customer, and it’s usually very difficult and expensive to get visitors in those markets.
- People Don’t Want It
Do people really care about your product? You might have a product and you’re like, “Hey, this is the greatest thing in the world,” but nobody really cares. A lot of businesses are in the business graveyard because they had products that they thought were going to be good, but they didn’t test the market.
How are you going to know things are going to be good? You have to test the market. You have to look at what they’re going to be interested in. You need to not only be in front of people who want your product, but also find out if there’s a demand for your product.

- People Can’t Afford It, or They Don’t Accept the Price

The next reason is the price. If you target people who don’t have the means to afford your product, you’re not going to sell it.
But even if people can afford your product, they may object to the price anyway. The price objection is really difficult to deal with, because it’s not actually real. People will pay whatever price you ask, as long as it shows the value of what they want.
For example, if I say, “I can help you make $100,000 a year online”, well, you’re going to be okay with paying a lot for that.
Think about how this works. Why is someone willing to pay $300,000 for a fancy Mercedes, as opposed to someone paying $20,000 for a regular car? If the guy is selling a $300,000 car, he’s not just selling a car. He’s selling a mindset of an exclusive community of people who own a certain type of car and have a certain type of stigma or status along with it. So, it’s much more than just a car.
You need to overcome the price objection by telling people what they’re going to get for it.
- You Don’t Know How to Sell It
The last (and perhaps most important) reason is that you simply don’t know how to sell your product.
If you’re not making sales and you’re not getting people to click on your affiliate offers, and people aren’t buying things from your web links and your websites, these are the things you need to know.
This is where a lot of people mess it up. I see people on webinars and stuff, and they try to sell something. They think they’re doing a great job, but they’re really waffling it when it comes to sales. This is what I see all the time. People get all excited and crazy when it comes time to sell stuff, because of a mindset we have about sales.
A lot of people look at sales and they think it’s something shady or silly. They think it’s something crazy, instead of looking at it for what it actually is. So, what is it? If you’re doing it right, the idea of sales is to help people make an informed decision and buy something, plain and simple.
Just last week, I did a series of webinars for a new software that came out. I tested the software and I saw that it’s absolutely amazing, and it helps you run your business. So I talked about it, and I said, “These are the three things you need to run your business.” If I had just said, “I got this great software, you need to go buy it,” I might have gotten a few sales. But instead, I said, “These are the five things that I do to sell products every day online. And guess what? This product makes these five things super easy.” Boom, sales pitch done. Very simple. This makes it easy.
You don’t have to have some crazy sales pitch. You don’t have to have some outlandish offer that no one believes. You simply need to tell the truth and say, “this is what I have, and here’s what it’s going to do for you, and here’s where to get it.”
Or you say, “These are the things I’m going to teach you.” This is called info marketing. We’re marketing via teaching, via information. That is what you do as an affiliate marketer, or as a product seller. That’s what you do if you’re a coach. With anything online, you’re in the information business, and your job is to educate someone.
For example, if a realtor comes to your house and they say, “I want to sell your house,” you probably won’t want to work with them right off the bat. But if a realtor comes to you and says, “Hey look, a couple of houses sold in your area. I thought you might be
interested. There was one over there that’s very comparable to yours, and it sold for $582,000. There’s another one that has less bedrooms than yours does, but it does have a pool, and that one went for $602,000. Then there’s one over here that sold for this amount. So, I think if you put your house on the market, we could probably get $587,000.” And you would say, “Wow, that’s great.”
And then the realtor would say, “Guess what? I’m not even going to charge you anything if it doesn’t sell for something around those numbers. So I’ll put it on the market, I’ll do all the work, and if you don’t want the price I get you, you simply don’t accept it.” See how that realtor educated you? You’d be much more likely to work with them.

How to Make the Sale
- Target the right market. Find people you can actually help.
- Make sure your prospect wants your product. Find people who are interested and actively looking for your product.
- Go for someone who can afford your product. They should believe that the price is going to help them.
- Learn how to sell. Some people just need to learn how to sell.
If you do this right, and you focus and you listen to your visitor based on what they click on, what they ask you, what they’re looking at, how long they stay there, if you focus on this stuff you will make sales and you will make money.

Bonus Tip A: Focus and refine your audience
Make sure that your audience is refined and you know who you’re talking to. It’s better to have 1,000 really refined people follow you than 1,000,000 untargeted people. Don’t be spammy—focus on the visitor more than you focus on your product. Focus on what they’re interested in and help them out.
If you have a mom that is trying to raise a bunch of kids, she doesn’t want to see ads for new diapers or bottles or something like that. She’s trying to raise her kids. So you could give her some tips. “Tip #1: Here’s how you can put all the kids down for a nap.” Give her tips that will help her.
If you’re a time management person, give your market some tips on time management every day. “Tip #1: Get involved in this.” “Tip #2: Put a timer on your social media.
Bonus Tip B: Give people a reason to follow and anticipate your posts
Why should people listen to you? Why should they follow you? This goes back to your target group of people. If you’re targeting the mom trying to raise a bunch of kids, think about that market. What would that mom appreciate you for posting? What would she like to see? Focus on that.
Don’t just have people follow your posts: make them anticipate your posts as well. When I don’t do a webinar or a live training when I’m scheduled to, people get all twisted. They ask where I am and what is wrong. They know I’m supposed to have a live training on Wednesdays and Fridays at 10 am. They anticipate it. You should get people to do the same.

How much time do you spend doing your social media?
I spend about 20 minutes a day on social media.
Do you normally start with YouTube, and then your content gets broken into other formats?
Sometimes that’s what happens. Sometimes not. At this point in the game, I have so much content, there’s always stuff to put out. And that’s part of the snowball effect. So as you go along, that will happen to you as well.
I don’t want to do video. What’s the next best way to start?
If you’re doing social media, the next best way to start is to do images. There are lots of people who have huge followings just based on Instagram images.

What is your webinar setup?

(We actually got this because the kids thought the word Lazy Susan was hilarious. So it was funny for like a week, and then it ended up in the office. Which is actually perfect, because when I’m at my desk I can read the monitor, and when I’m at the blackboard, I can just spin it and still read it. So it’s really cool.)
Then I have a cheap $100 webcam and a mic.
I also have my big camera set up behind my screen. It’s hooked up through HDMI and just goes to a video capture card, which then goes to the computer.
What kind of camera do you use? How much does it cost?
The camera is a 4K Cam, and I think it was $600.
Is the mic a radio mic?
No, this is actually a $95.00 wireless mic. It’s awesome and I love it. I’ve tried tons of them, but this one works really well and I think it sounds good.
I only have two monitors. Should I get a third one?
They’re only around $50, so yeah, I would get a third one if you can.

How do you get motivated?
You might wait and think that you need to feel motivated. But you need to forget about waiting.
You motivate yourself. When do something, you’ll then create motivation. Test something. Work something out. Help someone. Motivation starts with motion. Move your ass and your brain will follow.
If you’re not motivated, get started anyway. Go out there and get something done, and you will start to get motivated.

Today we’re talking about influencer marketing. This is something you see on the news. You hear everywhere about companies spending millions of dollars on influencer marketing. But what is influencer marketing?

Influencer Marketing
Quite simply, influencer marketing is a person with an audience, or a person with influence. Perhaps they have a YouTube channel, or an Instagram following. Maybe they’re on Twitter, or maybe they have a blog, or something like that. They have influence over a certain group of people.
For example, remember back in the days when we used to watch daytime television, and there was a lady on TV every day called Oprah Winfrey? She built a billion-dollar industry based on a billion-dollar business—or, I should say, based on influencer marketing. If you’ll recall, she had these shows every week, or every couple of weeks, where she would review a book, or talk to an author, or talk about a movie, or something similar.
People started to notice that when she said, “hey, this guy’s book is really good,” it shot to the bestseller list instantly. The reason that happened is because Oprah Winfrey has an audience that likes her stuff. They trust her and they follow her, AKA she has influence.
That’s the key. That’s the pinnacle of influencer marketing.
A lot of people tend to look at the people with the big numbers. Someone with 19 bazillion followers might make good money because of the fact that he has that many followers. But you can also make a lot with just a few followers, if you have more powerful influence.
Influencers, Companies, and the Gap
The first side of the coin is influencers that want to monetize their stuff, those that want to make money. They realize that people are checking out their stuff, people are liking it, reading books, buying things they tell them to buy.
The second side of the coin is companies that want to make money or sell products. These companies look at influencers and see how those influencers can move product. And those influencers can move product because people do what they say to do.
For example, let’s say we have an influencer who talks about tech stuff every day. He tells people, “Here’s the laptop you need to buy, here’s the memory you need to buy,” etc. And people love him. The look at his recommendations and they trust him. If someone’s in the market for a new computer, they go to that guy, and there it goes.
Then, you have these companies that sell computers, like Best Buy or Amazon. They’re willing to spend a lot of money to get a sponsored post, or a sponsored tweet, or something like that, based on that influencer’s traffic.
There is a gap here. Influencers don’t know their influence. They don’t understand their value. Right now, you can go on Instagram and buy influencer posts for like $20, for a guy with like 50,000 followers or subscribers. That’s really cheap. Same thing with YouTube—you can buy ads extremely cheap, because a lot of these influencers don’t realize their value.
But these companies do understand the influencers’ value. They understand that the influencers can move product, and they can do it in a really effective way. Understanding this gap is one of the biggest, hugest opportunities to make money in all of history, because it provides an opportunity for us to get involved in the gap.

Influencer Marketing and Affiliate Marketing
As affiliate marketers, we can combine these two things. A lot of influencers out there know they have 50,000 followers, but Best Buy and Amazon and other companies are not beating down the door to pay them. Affiliate marketing bypasses these companies.
You can go out and find influencers. You can make posts that show up for their traffic. You can even send people to your website and promote different affiliate programs to their markets.
For example, let’s say you are in the motivational market, and you have a website. You could find an influencer in this market and have sponsored ads on their channels, or affiliate offers for various motivational books, or you could advertise your own courses and programs on motivation. You could even be an affiliate for other programs, where people are coaching people success, and you could have that show up for your influencer’s following as well.
But you have to be careful with this. If an influencer starts posting a bunch of your ads for their audience, they might not want to keep paying attention.
If you really want to build relationships with influencers, you can always just become an influencer yourself.

How to Become an Influencer
- Get an audience
Are there people on Instagram, or YouTube, or Twitter, or Facebook that are interested in a certain thing? Can you compile them? Can you get them in a group? Can you get them in a mailing list? Can you get them to be your followers?
Find an audience that’s interested in something, whether it’s people on Instagram looking for inspiration, or motivational quotes, or people looking for Bible verses, or people looking for the daily funny comics, or something like that. You want to find a group of people, that you know about, who are interested in something.
- Build content for your audience
Your goal is to provide value to that group. The value could be in the form of a daily quote, a daily cartoon, a daily picture, a daily video, or anything like that. That gets your following in the mood to check your stuff out. That is building influence.
A lot of people say they don’t want to be on camera. But you can actually influence people without even using your name. You could just be the guy on Instagram who does inspirational quotes, and all you do is post inspirational quotes. Maybe from time to time, you say, “Hey, go to my site, check this out, check that out.” If you’re in this market, make your audience feel like things are getting better by looking at your quotes. As you create content, you build rapport with people, and you start to bond with them.
- Post consistently
Get out there and start posting content consistently, and post content that they want to see. If you’re the tech guy, post tech stuff. Don’t post something about dogs. Keep everything about tech stuff. If you’re in the motivational market, keep things about motivation.
As time goes on, you have to main your influence, and your ability to influence. The name of the game is that you control the audience. You control their attention. This is the attention-based economy. If you get attention, you win.
Your Responsibility as an Influencer
If you’re going to be an influencer marketer, you need to realize your responsibility in the world. Your following anticipates your next move, and they will do something that you tell them to do. You have to understand what your market is into, what your market likes, and what they’re susceptible to. You don’t want to abuse the influence you have by telling your audience to do things that are not in their best interest, or things that are not going to work for them. You want to stay within ethical guidelines. You definitely don’t want your following to do things that are shady or weird, or things that could be harmful or dangerous.
You have a power. You have a responsibility. Realize that you can reach a lot of people.
That’s why I mostly only promote things that I myself that personally tried. I promote very few affiliate programs that are other peoples’ stuff—I usually only do my own because I know that’s what’s best for you.

Get Started as an Influencer
A lot of people think that the only person who has influence is the most popular person in the world, and that’s not necessarily true. You don’t need millions of followers. There are lots of people with smaller followings who are able to influence, and get people to buy things, or motivate people, or whatever it may be.
I just started on Instagram, and I don’t even know what I’m doing. I have around 600 followers, and I’ve already made a thousand dollars or more. How does that work?
It works because of the power of my influence. You have to create good influence—things that people want to do, that people want to watch. You want to give them a feeling.
I have a little sticker on my monitor, on my desk, and it says: “From this office, you can reach the world.” From where you sit, right now, you can reach the world, and you can reach them in a really cool way. If you have a message to share, you can share it. If you simply want to go out there and make money, you can do that, too. Just do it in a really cool way.
As an influencer, when you’re getting started, you don’t want to wait around for someone to reach out to you. You want to go out there and actively find ways that you can help your audience and earn money while doing it.

Today we’ll talk about some major money-making ideas, and which ones I think are the best.
Remember, an idea is only as good as the implementation behind it. You can have the greatest idea in the world, but if you don’t go anything with it, you won’t make anything with it. Let’s dive in.
Shopify
If you’re just beginning to make money online, Shopify can be a good way to get started. A lot of people use it for selling products or dropshipping products. Sometimes people will do free plus shipping offers, where they make a little bit of money on a lot of purchased. This can be a good thing. You can build it into a business, and it’s definitely viable.
There are some downsides to this, though. You have to get traffic to your shop to be able to sell what you have. You also need to do your own customer support. My thinking is this: If I’m going to drive traffic, I want to drive visitors to something that’s going to make me the most money, and I also want to get rid of the extra work I have to do. If I’m doing customer service, I’ll be slammed and limited to what I can really do.
Etsy
Many people have made lots of money on Etsy. This is a great place to have a product and sell it. People often create and sell their own product by putting it on Etsy.
I am friends with a designer who makes her own clothes and sells them on Etsy. The problem is that she has to drive traffic to her site. You have to sell your stuff really hard core. A lot of times it’s very difficult, because the markets that people go into (like the T-shirt market, or coffee mug market) are really competitive, and the amount of money you’re making on these products is really, really low.
eBay
eBay is a little bit different. eBay has a built-in traffic source. People go to eBay to search for things to buy. So, you don’t really have to worry so much about driving your own traffic. This platform will work, but you have to have the right direction. It’s not just about the idea that you have – you have to know how to find your market.
Amazon
Like eBay, Amazon has their own built-in traffic. Amazon has their own search engine, so you can take advantage of it. This makes it a lot easier and cheaper to get traffic. However, Amazon is getting super competitive as well. Often times it’s very difficult for someone with little money, or someone who’s just getting started.
Info Marketing
Info marketing is one of my favorite things to do. This is where you package information and you actually market it online. You might create the information yourself, or you might do resale rights, where you buy the rights to an info product, service, video set, plug-in, or something like that.
This is usually pretty cut-and-dry. All you have to do is market your product under the problems that it solves. It’s easy to do.
For example, if I buy the rights to a book about how to take care of a cat, then all I need to do is use keywords like “cat won’t eat”, “cat won’t sleep”, “cat biting”, keywords which are very, very inexpensive, and I can drive people to the product. Then I could sell that product very easily.
I’ve made millions with info marketing, and it works really, really well.
Network Marketing
Network marketing has a pretty bad reputation, because a lot of promote the opportunity, but the product is lacking. People might talk up the opportunity to make money, but in the end, there’s no real product, and there’s no real value to the customer. And if there’s no real product, then it’s kind of like a pyramid scheme.
Now, there are network marketing companies that are very good. Some offer products such as health or beauty products, or maybe services, or something like that. Those can be good, but you have to make sure that the product is in demand, and that it works really well.
This is also known as multi-level marketing, where you build a network to get paid. Often you have to ask your friends or family to sign up, and you have to bug people, and it’s not really that fun, and (in my opinion) the amount of money you make for the work is not that great.
Affiliate Marketing
Next to info marketing, my favorite way to make money online is through affiliate marketing. I don’t have to deal with selling stuff, or shipping stuff, or customer support. All I have to do is find what people are searching for.
Over 4 million people search Google every 60 seconds. That doesn’t include the people that search YouTube, or MSN Yahoo, or any other search engine. That’s just Google alone. These people are searching every minute for problems and solutions.

Back in 2008, I found out that people were searching for layouts, backgrounds, and different things for their website. I set up a simple one-page website and made tons of money. It was one of my biggest websites back then. Now, I set up lots of websites as well, mostly around web hosting where I get paid $100 a sale. Or, I set up sites for things like different shopping carts, or different downloads, different lead products, things like that. All I have to do is set up a simple blog or web page, be the middle man, drive traffic, and make money.
So in my opinion, the best way to get going is affiliate marketing. It takes some work, it takes some trial and error. But I think it’s the easiest way to get started making money now.
Choose Your Method
Choose what you want to do. If you have a T-shirt you want to sell, go to Shopify. If you have your own clothing line or jewelry you make, go to Etsy. If you’re selling grandma’s old antiques, go to eBay. If you’ve got a book or a product you can import and sell really cheap, go to Amazon. If you want to join a company and you like talking to people, maybe check out some network marketing companies. If you want to create an info product, check out info marketing.
