Host (Valeria):
Stop wasting time on niches that don’t pay. Today we’re going to show you where the money is. I’m here with Marcus Campbell. He has over 20 years of experience finding profitable niches. Hi, Marcus.
Marcus:
Hi. How are you doing?
Valeria:
I’m good, thank you.
Marcus:
Good.
Valeria:
We have 12 questions for you about niches — questions for beginners and experts. Are you ready?
Marcus:
I’m ready. Let’s do it.
Question 1: How do you find a niche that actually makes money?
Marcus:
That’s a good question. What I usually do is look at data on what already works. I want a head start. That might mean a domain that already ranked, a business that already exists, or a niche that’s already making money.
A lot of people tell you to follow your passion, and that’s fine — but there’s a difference between being passionate and turning something into a business.
Let’s say I love skateboarding. Before I jump in, I want to see if skateboarding is already making money for someone else and how. Because if the monetization is selling a skateboard for a $0.47 commission, that’s probably not going to work.
So I look at domains, websites, niches, traffic — solid, concrete data. That tells me:
-
This is a real business
-
This is how it’s monetized
-
This is the traffic
Then I win.
Sometimes I’ll look at tools like SpamZilla or GoDaddy Auctions. You can even ask AI to find profitable niches — but make sure you add “income reports” so you’re seeing real site owners showing what they actually make.
Question 2: Can every passion be monetized? Or are some just dead ends?
Marcus:
It depends on how you connect it.
Years ago, I was in a niche where my marketing friends told me I’d never make money. To this day, it’s one of my most profitable affiliate campaigns ever — and I didn’t sell anything directly.
Sometimes it’s about pairing the passion with the right offer.
Let’s say you love coupons. You’re not selling coupons — but there are toolbars, credit cards, rewards programs. People already have money. They already spend thousands online. You just need to connect the dots.
People obsessed with Nintendo from the 1980s will spend thousands on arcade consoles — and those have huge commissions.
So don’t just say “I like this niche.” Ask:
How does this make me a living?

Question 3: What’s a common beginner mistake when choosing niches?
Marcus:
Beginners say, “I’m doing weight loss.” That’s not a niche — that’s a category.
A niche is:
-
How to lose weight after 40
-
How to lose weight after having a baby
-
How to lose weight during menopause
You want to be a big fish in a small pond, not a tiny fish in a massive one.
Same thing with money. Crypto isn’t a niche.
Is it:
-
AI + crypto?
-
Crypto news?
-
Beginner crypto mistakes?
Stay in one lane. Google loves that. Social media algorithms love that. Later, you can niche up — but never at the beginning.
Question 4: What’s the difference between a niche and a sub-niche?
Marcus:
A niche is something like how to lose weight after 40.
A sub-niche is:
-
For women
-
For men
-
Stubborn belly fat
-
Sugar addiction
It’s a niche inside a niche.
Question 5: How can you quickly tell if a niche is bad before spending money?
Marcus:
Numbers.
Ask: What do I earn per 1,000 visitors?
That’s CPM.
If 1,000 visitors make me:
-
$40
-
$100
-
$200
Great.
If it makes me $0.14? I’m out.
It’s all math. Use a calculator. Look at offers. Look at keywords. Look at advertisers. If nobody’s paying, there’s no market.
Question 6: If I have $0 to start, what niches give fast results?
Marcus:
If I had literally nothing — just a computer and internet — I’d go for:
-
Low barrier to entry
-
Easy traffic
-
Scalable content
Money topics are great if you know them. For example:
-
“What does Ray Dalio think about the Bitcoin crash?”
That gets traffic today, not tomorrow.
If you don’t know crypto, don’t fake it.
Seasonal niches work too. Valentine’s Day:
-
What not to buy
-
What women hate
-
What women love
People are already buying. Affiliates just redirect traffic.

Question 7: How do you know if people want to buy or just want info?
Marcus:
Buyer intent vs non-buyer intent.
“How do I jump higher?” = info
“Jump Higher 2.0 review” = buyer
High buyer intent = expensive traffic
Low buyer intent = easier traffic
I focus on predictive marketing — what will they buy eventually?
Someone searching:
-
Alcohol + anxiety
-
Mortgage behind notices
-
Proposal advice
Those all lead to big purchases later.
Your job is to bridge the gap.
Question 8: How do ethics fit into affiliate marketing?
Marcus:
Ethics matter.
I run a recovery site. Rehabs will pay me huge money. I don’t take it — because some of them don’t care about people, just profit.
Always ask:
-
What are they going to buy anyway?
-
Does this help them?
If you help people, your business lasts longer.
Question 9: Why are boring niches often better than popular ones?
Marcus:
Because nobody wants them — but they’re evergreen.
Mortgages are boring. They make millions every day.
That’s where opportunity hides.
Question 10: Cheap products vs expensive services — which is better?
Marcus:
Both.
Every market has:
-
Many people who buy cheap
-
A few people who buy expensive
Sell the $90 product and the $200,000 version.
Let the market decide. Don’t push — observe.
Question 11: How can small sites win in competitive niches?
Marcus:
Distinctions.
A mechanic doesn’t see “a car.” He sees:
-
Lug nuts
-
Spark plugs
-
Rack and pinion
Every niche has micro-problems. Solve those, and they all lead back to the big niche.
Question 12: When should you stop working on a niche and sell?
Marcus:
When you get an offer you can’t refuse.
Or when it’s clearly not going anywhere.
If you’re not spending 90% of your time:
-
Getting visitors
-
Converting traffic
-
Bringing in new money
You’re doing it wrong.
